About
Stellar News Chronicle is an independent editorial publication about astronomy and the ways people learn to read the sky. It is for curious general readers, whether they are beginning with unaided observation or trying to make sense of a map, instrument or unfamiliar term.
The questions we follow
We cover skywatching, astronomical ideas, observing tools, sky maps and the history of how people have pictured the cosmos. The aim is not to turn every glance upward into a lesson, but to give readers enough context to notice more on their own.
Clear explanations, careful limits
We favor concrete explanations and useful comparisons over jargon. When a subject depends on changing conditions, specialized equipment or a particular location, we say so rather than presenting one answer as universal. Our work is for understanding and general interest, not a substitute for specialist instruction.
A reader's point of view
Readers do not need prior training to begin here. We explain terms when they matter, distinguish what a diagram shows from what it leaves out, and end with an idea or observation a reader can carry into their next look at the sky.
Wonder grows when we learn how to look
A bright point can prompt a question; a little context can turn that question into a way of seeing. We make room for both.
